Suggested Mets Links for Saturday August 4

Whatever the front office didn't do at the deadline didn't ruin a team that remains worth watching, explains Brian Costa in the Wall Street Journal.

Also in the Journal, Costa writes about Jordany Valdespin, who he says is the kind of player that some older players view as needing to be taught a lesson' and not just regarding how to dress.

In a Q&A with RA Dickey for MLB.com, Meggie Zahneis describes the pitcher as, 'An author, knuckleballer, inspiring success story, bookworm, traffic hater and sushi lover.'

Lastly, in the New York Post, Kevin Kernan says the Mets have many issues, but at the top of the list is the situation behind the plate.

There is a large contingent of Mets fans who feel Josh Thole is not the long-term answer behind the dish for NY. And I agree. I believe most could deal with the soft-hitting catcher if he excelled defensively. But is has become painfully obvious Thole does not.
