Transcript: Terry on the pitching and the Mets loss tonight

Terry Collins talked to reporters after tonight's 6-3 loss to Houston and had the following to say about:

Jon Niese, who let up five runs in three innings:

'Two mistakes and the plate'When you're in a game where you're down five and you have a chance to tie it, I think you've got to take the opportunity. You saw we didn't have another chance for us to tie the game. So, I took my chances.'

His pitching staff, and the home runs they're giving up:

'Well of course. You don't want to give up home runs. If you're giving up a lot of them there's got to be a reason for it. One of the reasons obviously is that we're leaving balls in the middle of the plate. We're not making pitches we need to make. That doesn't have anything to do with the philosophy, it has to do with the execution side.'

Ramon Ramirez, not finding the plate:

'The other day in Colorado he threw the ball great'When you get him out there you just say hey you're out there a lot'This is probably his fifth game in maybe the last eight days. So he's been in a lot of games. Maybe he's fatigued.'
