Shannon Forde's fundraiser postponed to Nov. 29 due to Hurricane Sandy

Shannon Forde is the Senior Director of Media Relations for the Mets. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer in early August, but she continues to perform her duties with the Mets.

Matthew Cerrone: In 2006, when people were still very much skeptical of 'bloggers,' back when I couldn't get a single person on the phone to learn about press passes and arranging interviews, Shannon extended a helping hand and told me where to go. I've known her for many years now, she's become a good friend, I will always be grateful for her guidance, and I hope she gets the best treatment and recovery.

Michael Baron: Shannon is one of the nicest people I've ever met and she has been instrumental in my ability to provide content on this site, be it at the ballpark, in Port St. Lucie during camp, or while following the Minor League teams. I'm saddened by her condition and I'm hoping to attend the fundraiser to support her cause. My thoughts go out to her and her family, who I'm happy to hear is optimistic about her treatment plan despite a long road ahead'

The benefit for Shannon is in Woodland Park, N.J. and will raise money for Shannon's treatment. The benefit will include a dinner emceed by Ron Darling, and a meet-and-greet autograph session with Darryl Strawberry, Dwight Gooden, John Franco, Al Leiter, Ed Kranepool and Bob Ojeda.

Tickets for the dinner and autograph session can be purchased by going to HopeShinesForShannon.com.
