'Well, we haven't played very defensively the last three games, I'm not going to say we are. But, for the most part, we've played pretty good defense all year until now.'
Jeremy Hefner, who let up three runs in the first, but rebounded to give five more innings, while letting up just one additional run:
'He kept us in the game and we got back in it. The unearned runs are the ones that hurt us. He got us a chance, it's just tough when you get three hits.
The lack offense tonight:
'We've hit the ball, we get on base, that's not the issue, we lead the league in two-out base hits. There are a lot of positives, but today we didn't get them. It's not always us. Sometimes you get somebody who pitches good against you. They've got outstanding pitching. They have some guys that can get you out.'
Ike Davis, who was 1 for 2:
'I was glad to see Ike hit the ball hard, no question. Hopefully the two walks, seeing the ball better, he hit the ball the other way, so maybe it's a start.'
Daniel Murphy's two errors and if he's concerned about his defense:
'Today he had a rough night. ' The first ball, I was surprised he didn't get. The other one, from LaRoche, that ball just came up on him. ' When you play as well as he has, you just check it off as a bad night.'
