Reds agree to re-sign OF Ryan Ludwick

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports the Reds and Ryan Ludwick have agreed to terms on a new contract.

John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer says the deal is for two years with a mutual option for 2015.

The Mets had interest in offering Ludwick a two year deal worth between $6-7 million per year, according to Ken Davidoff of the New York Post.

Ludwick, 34, hit .275 with a .346 OBP, .877 OPS, 26 HR and 80 RBI in 422 at-bats with the Reds in 2012.

Michael Baron, MetsBlog.com:

Cody Ross had a very similar year to Ludwick in 2012, and so I wonder if the Mets can sign Ross to a similar deal. Ross had reportedly been seeking a three-year contract for around the same money, but that could change now that a similar player signed for fewer guaranteed years.
