In a report for the Dayton Daily News, Hal McCoy believes Reds' OF Ryan Ludwick will receive multi-year offers from other teams this winter, and Cincinnati might be unable to match those offers.
However, McCoy writes, 'While the Reds may not be able to match some of the offers, perhaps they can come close enough that Ludwick will return for a slight discount in appreciate for the Reds enabling him to resurrect his nearly dead career.'
Ludwick, who just turned 34 in July, hit .275 with a .346 OBP and .877 OPS with 26 home runs and 80 RBI in 422 at-bats over 122 games with the Reds in 2012 ' he hit .268 with 16 home runs and 46 RBI at Great American Ballpark, and hit .282 with 10 home runs and 34 RBI on the road.
Ludwick signed a one-year, $2.5 million contract with the Reds before the 2012 season. There is a $5 million mutual option for 2013, but McCoy says Ludwick is expected to decline his side of the option.
