Mets assistant GM J.P. Ricciardi told the Boston Globe's Nick Cafardo that he would be 'shocked' if the Mets traded 1B Ike Davis this winter.
Previous reports have indicated the Red Sox have had interest in Davis before, while Cafardo suggests the Rays could also be a fit by trading a starting pitcher.
Davis hit .227 with 32 home runs and 90 RBI in 519 at-bats this past season, of course he hit 20 home runs after the All-Star Break. Davis is eligible for arbitration this winter for the first time in his career.
By the way, Ricciardi also told the Globe he will return to the Mets as a Special Assistant to the GM in 2013, though he would be interested in returning to being a GM at some point during his career.

They can't trade Ike right now. He is the main power source on a roster devoid of power. In addition, he is a stellar first baseman capable of one day winning a Gold Glove, and we've all seen what happens when somebody else is playing first base with this team. They are unlikely to replace his power if they do trade him, even if they get two Major League players in return for him.
