The Mets offense is pathetic. It's really as simple as that. They are a singles hitting team when they do hit, and it's impossible to string together runs when it takes three hits to score once. Besides, the Mets can't even string together three consecutive hits right now, anyway. Instead, the Mets scattered eight singles against John Lannan and the Nationals bullpen, four of which came from David Wright and Lucas Duda.

Matt Harvey was great, but threw a lot of pitches and seemed to tire out in the sixth inning. He walked three batters in five-plus which didn't help his pitch count, considering he racked up ten strikeouts on the night. He has one more start and then his season will be over, but he is a definite bright spot as the off-season draws closer.

The fact Washington and Atlanta have more wins than the Mets at Citi Field since the All-Star break is absolutely stunning. I don't even know what to say about that. I mean, it's not as if the Mets are blowing up the scoreboard on the road, either. But they are absolutely lifeless at home in particular, and it's the second consecutive season they have played badly at home at that. In general, this quality of play feels like a routine, and that's a sickening feeling altogether'
