The Rangers 'blew away' Zack Greinke, and he loves the Rangers' chances of winning the World Series (ESPN).
The Angels are unlikely to make a last minute attempt to sign Greinke (ESPN), and while the Dodgers have thought about moving on from Greinke (FOX Sports), they would still sign him if he willingly showed interest in closing a deal with Los Angeles (ESPN).
If the Dodgers can't sign Greinke, they will pursue signing Anibal Sanchez or Kyle Lohse, or pursue acquiring R.A. Dickey from the Mets (ESPN).
Michael Baron, MetsBlog.com:
Greinke could theoretically take a little less from the Rangers and still make out better because there is no state income tax in Texas. If Greinke signs with Los Angeles, that would leave the Rangers, Angels, Red Sox, Royals and Blue Jays all looking for front-line starting pitching ' most of which have rich farm systems ' and there is a huge drop off on the free agent market behind Greinke. So clearly, the best case scenario for the Mets would be for Greinke to sign in Los Angeles.
