Greinke agreed to a six-year, $147 million contract with the Dodgers on Saturday night.
McCarron says the Mets and Rangers discussed a deal for Dickey during the Winter Meetings last week, and a source says the Rangers might be willing to part with infield prospect Mike Olt in a deal.
Olt has played three games in the outfield in his Minor League career, and two games in the outfield in his Major League career. However, McCarron says scouts believe Olt can handle the outfield.
However, McCarron wonders if the Rangers might have reservations over dealing Olt now that they traded Michael Young to the Phillies.
On Friday, MetsBlog's Matthew Cerrone wrote, 'simply put, my best guess is that if Greinke signs with the Dodgers, there is a decent chance Dickey gets sent to Texas for a deal including Olt. However, if Greinke signs in Texas, I'd bet Dickey and Niese stay put, and Alderson instead makes short-term bets in the free agent market.'
In 16 games for the Rangers in 2012, Olt, 24, went 5-for-33 with a double, five walks five RBI and 13 strikeouts. He hit .288 with a .398 OBP and a .579 SLG, 28 home runs and 82 RBI in 421 plate appearances over 95 games with Double-A Frisco before being promoted to the big leagues.

Olt is an infielder by trade, but he's young and athletic ' if the Mets didn't think Olt could play the outfield, they probably wouldn't be interested in him. What I like about Olt is his versatility, which is something the Mets always seem to lack. He can play both corner infield positions as well as the outfield, meaning he can spell David Wright and Ike Davis during the year. In a worst case scenario, Olt can potentially form a platoon with Ike Davis if he struggles against left-handed pitching as well.
